It is so easy to fall out of balance in our day to day lives. The constant push and pull of responsibilities and the desire to make the most of the day and be everything to everyone. Don't forget wanting to find the guilt free moments where we can slow down and just be. Yes, life is a balancing act.
Here are a couple tips to help you when you feel like you are teetering and out of balance.
It's time to start saying no. Yes, saying no can be hard. However, if you have too much on your plate it's okay to say no. The book the Big Leap talks about the Enlightened No. Saying no to those things that don't serve us. If you have too much going on, it's okay. To say no and not feel guilty. Remind yourself, you are only one person. Say yes to those things that make your heart sing and more nos to those that don't.
Give yourself permission to make time for you. Once a day do something you truly love. It will rejuvenate you and reinvigorate you.
If you feel like you are running around like a chicken with your head cut off, that you are overly busy. It's time t o check in. Why are you so busy? Are you running from something? What would it look like if you stopped? How would it feel? What are you avoiding on a deeper level? Sometimes business is a distraction from underlying issues.
Make a list. Give yourself 3 things that have to get accomplished. Anything over 3 can overwhelm our brain, making it harder to get our to do lists accomplished.
Set a time limit. Work on each project a set amount of time. An amount of time that feels manageable. Again, give yourself permission to get done what you get done.
Take a moment to ground yourself. To relax. By taking deep breathes. Going for a walk in nature. Meditate. Something that helps you slow down and refocus.
